Mr Robert Kola, Head Transaction Banking, East Africa said the bank was delighted with the awards. The bank also won the Deal of the Year award in this year s Bankers Awards. Standard Chartered and other lead arrangers and senior lenders were lauded for the Tiomin Resources $201 million financing for the Kwale mineral sands project. The Banker noted that the project was Kenya s first major mining project and one of the country s largest foreign investments in recent years.

It further commended the bank and the other arrangers for meeting the financial requirements in just four months through coordinating multi-sourced financing from commercial and development finance institutions.
